Lights! Recliners! Action!
Luxury cinema is now in full swing at four recently renovated locations of Southern Theatres in Mississippi, North Carolina and Florida. From late fall until early March, Entertainment Supply & Technology teams created custom plans and installed new luxury recliners in three phases to elevate the experience for Southern Theatres’ moviegoers.
With any new cinema trend comes new opportunities in cinema design. To ensure that every guest has an undisturbed viewing experience from any angle of recline, our installation team used risers to elevate recliners in some of the auditoriums (our dedication to the ‘Making every seat the best seat is the house’ idea). The recliners are also ‘daisy-chained’ – they power from a battery pack linking one chair to the next. This allows an exhibitor to conserve on the number of required power outlets throughout the theater when renovating.
Along with the seating facelift, ES&T outfitted the auditoriums with a new Tempo lighting system along the entryways and stairways. The ergonomic design of the sleek wall lighting is fully dimmable, while the step-nosing and raceways integrate into the auditorium’s aesthetics. The projects at all four locations in Hattiesburg and D’Iberville, Mississippi, Lake Mary, Florida and Winston-Salem, North Carolina debuted in phases over five months beginning at Thanksgiving of 2016 and concluding in March of this year.
