TROY, MI – November 2025 – Entertainment Supply & Technologies (ES&T) is excited to announce the debut of MJR Theatres’ (MJR) new laser IMAX auditorium at its Troy, Michigan location. ES&T has served as MJR’s trusted premium large-format provider for more than a decade. Back in 2014, ES&T created this location’s first premium-large format experience in the same auditorium, and is proud to have contributed to the opening of MJR’s first-ever IMAX installation.
A Major Upgrade for Auditorium 8
ES&T supported the installation of all IMAX technology and custom recliner seating for the project. The theater is the largest at the chain’s Troy location, which has 16 screens. Even more exciting, the presentation is one of the largest laser IMAX presentations in the state of Michigan! The mayor of Troy presented MJR executives with an award at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for creating the largest laser IMAX in the greater Detroit area.
The renovation includes a high-performance IMAX screen, immersive multi-channel IMAX audio, and updated acoustical wall treatments. A brighter picture, deeper contrast, and richer, clearer sound for a next-level cinematic experience are surrounded by premium stretch-wall fabric and “in-visible” lighting accents built into the wall panels.
“Over a decade ago, we helped MJR build their ‘EPIC’ presentation in this same room. We’re honored to still serve MJR, and to now be their go-to certified IMAX installer, helping them set a new standard for cinema exhibition,” said ES&T’s CEO Barney Bailey.

The new IMAX auditorium places MJR Troy among the elite venues in the region, offering a large-format, laser-based, and luxury IMAX experience. This premium auditorium is the kind moviegoers expect for blockbuster films such as the upcoming Avatar: Fire and Ash and Wicked: For Good. The MJR brand is known for luxury seating in its premium presentations, and the new IMAX at Troy is no different. Auditorium 8 features several models of luxury seating, all manufactured by long-time ES&T partner Irwin Seating. The most premium option in the theater is the privacy pod recliners, which feature a loveseat surrounded by privacy panels, with full recline and personal lighting, and storage. A brainchild of MJR and ES&T with Irwin, the seating pods are a signature of the chain and one of its most popular draws.
